Let the job application process commence.

JournalismJobs.com e-mailed me a notification for a job in Vero Beach! (I think exclamation points are lame, but this warrants one.) Vero Beach 32963, a new weekly newspaper on the Vero Beach barrier island, has immediate openings for full-time reporters, photographers and columnists.
Oh, and the salary is $30,000 to $35,000.
The fact that this is a new publication gives me hope that they would take on an eager young journalist, striving to make a difference in the world and willing to bust her you-know-what every day to do it. Also, even though I’m applying for a reporter position, I’m able to tell them I can also take photographs and write a column since I can keep a daily blog. However I’m worried about the immediate part, seeing as I graduate in one week and move in two.
The ad for Vero Beach 32963 said to just e-mail them a letter of application, resume and best clip and to mention I saw this opening listed at JournalismJobs.com. I’m polishing up my stuff and sending it off tomorrow, making sure to mention where I saw the ad. I guess this employment site is going to help me after all.

On a different note, one of the best parts of living in Gainesville and away from Fort Pierce was the cards my mom sent me over the years. Everyone loves to get real mail, and she always includes little things like articles cut out from the newspaper. Plus she always sent me packages on special occasions like Halloween, birthday, Valentine’s Day and Easter.
I wonder if I’ll still get those things living 15 minutes from home instead of three hours.

Good News On the Vero Job opening. I think the only thing you will be getting in the mail after you graduate are letters from Mr. BILL. That guy always wants money.

VERO?!?!?! This sounds fantastic. You know, it’s a better sweet little city. I hope that this works out for you!

Forget the cards and packages - I will come over to your house to visit and “what’s for dinner?”
